Hi there!

Hi! My name is Brittany =) I'm a former elementary school teacher, positive discipline educator, and certified conscious parenting coach.

I am an avid learner and passionate about sharing what I learn with other parents, so they can feel confident in their parenting and have an awesome relationship with their child.

My Story

I grew up knowing I wanted to be an elementary school teacher, and I worked hard to make that happen. My second year teaching I had a group of kids that just wouldn't listen. I was spending my day yelling at 10 year olds and it felt awful. Thankfully I had a wonderful administrative staff that helped me sign up for Positive Discipline trainings. I learned about brain science, why kids act the way they do, and how to gain their cooperation without having to yell. It absolutely saved my teaching career and I eventually became a reading coach where I coached other teachers by planning and modeling lessons with them, and helping them grow their confidence and content knowledge.

When my husband and I had our first child I never considered not working, and I went back when he was 12 weeks old. We quickly realized this wasn't the best plan for our family, and decided I would finish out the school year and take a year of personal leave to test out the Stay at Home Mom thing.

When I do something I go all in, so I started reading all the parenting books, got added to email lists, listened to podcasts, and started to really think about the type of mom I wanted to be. I naturally leaned into Positive Discipline since that's what had brought me so much success in my classroom. I love the idea of kind AND firm and connection before correction. This also led me to Dr. Dan Siegel and Dr. Tina Payne Bryson- I get something new out of all their books, and value the importance of brain science as well as making sense of our childhood and how it affects our parenting.

The teacher and trainer in me never went away so I began talking with fellow moms, and sharing what I was learning. I quickly realized how many moms felt like their kids were the only one's who _______ (fill in the blank with any crazy behavior that kids do). I talked to moms who were frustrated, confused, and felt guilt because they were parenting in a way they didn't want to but didn't know what else to do.

I came across the Jai Institute for Parenting and after processing the fear and worry that came from trying something new, I decided to jump in! I completed the 6 month certification program in August 2020. Since then I have been hosting training, and assisting parents through 1 hour support phone calls, and guided parenting programs. My favorite part is watching parents realize that they don't have to try and be perfect, they just need to show up for their child, make repairs when they inevitably make mistakes, and use the power of connection to work as a team!
