Brittany Podsobinski, positive parent coach
Hi! My name is Brittany. I grew up knowing I wanted to be an elementary school teacher, and I worked hard to make that happen. I loved teaching, and eventually became a reading coach where I coached other teachers by planning and modeling lessons with them, and helping them grow their confidence and content knowledge.
When my husband and I had our first child I never considered not working, and I went back when he was 12 weeks old. We quickly realized this wasn't the best plan for our family, and decided I would finish out the school year and take a year of personal leave to test out the Stay at Home Mom thing.
When I do something I go all in, so I started reading all the parenting books, got added to email lists, listened to podcasts, and started to really think about the type of mom I wanted to be. I had used Positive Discipline in my classroom so that felt comfortable. I love the idea of kind AND firm and connection before correction. This also led me to Dr. Dan Siegel and Dr. Tina Payne Bryson- I get something new out of all their books, and value the importance of brain science as well as making sense of our childhood and how it affects our parenting.
The teacher and trainer in me never went away so I began talking with fellow moms, and sharing what I was learning. I quickly realized how many moms felt like their kids were the only one's who _______ (fill in the blank with any crazy behavior that kids do). I talked to moms who were frustrated, confused, and felt guilt because they were parenting in a way they didn't want to but didn't know what else to do.
I came across the Jai Institute for Parenting and after processing the fear and worry that came from trying something new, I decided to jump in! I completed the 6 month certification program in August 2020, and love working with parents to help them gain confidence and create loving relationships with their children!
What is BPODS?
First, it's a shortened version of my name- Brittany Podsobinski =) But I also love a good acronym and use it as a reminder to Be- Playful, Open-hearted, Decisive, and Secure in my parenting!
It's amazing how play can be used to help in so many different parenting struggles, and it makes it so much more fun!! I'll help you learn how to use play to diffuse meltdowns, help with transitions, teach important character traits, and so much more!
It all comes down to connection. When our children feel connected to us, they want to make us happy (when possible!). And when we feel connected to our kids, we are able to see past behaviors and look for their needs.
There is no one way to be a parent, and I'm here to help you build confidence! I want you to know that you are imperfect (which is good!), AND the best parent for your child! I'll provide a framework based on Positive Discipline and Conscious Parenting practices that can be used in all families!
This helps us keep the end goal in mind- a secure and loving relationship with your child!
I would love to help you make this happen!
What is a Parent Coach?
I help you gain confidence and build a loving relationship with your child! I usually talk to parents who are frustrated with their children's behaviors and feel overwhelmed not knowing what to do.
I focus on creating a secure relationship where you feel confident and connected with your child, while also filling your toolbox with strategies for any parenting situation.
You might benefit from coaching if...
you are frustrated by daily parenting struggles
you're overwhelmed with all the parenting blogs, books, and advice
you want a connected relationship with your child, but find yourself triggered by the day to day struggles
Coaching probably isn't a good fit if...
you're looking for a quick fix to make your kids do what you want
you have a fixed mindset, and aren't willing to work on yourself
you aren't willing to try something you haven't tried before
